suspend-to-ram possible?

Added by another one about 1 year ago

i would like to turn my old main pc into a nas, but i don't want it to be running 24/7, that's just to much power usage. is there a way to put nexentastor in suspend mode, maybe even automatically after some idle time? and if suspend is possible, is wake-on-lan possible?

I'd also be interested in this for a home machine.

We have power management code built in, but i am not sure if it is enabled.. let me check and get back to you..

If not i will write up the rfe.

I did some looking on this and this isn't a feature we have currently. Most of our customers are enterprise and don't need this, but i will file and rfe anyways

Thanks Linda. Don't know if it's a reasonable justification or not, but sometimes the prosumer market is good for finding and filing issues? Seems like lots of different motherboards are good for finding

The main reason I want to run Nexenta at home is to get more experience with it for the enterprise. Or depending on one's perspective, would rather avoid running different systems at home and work.

$0.02... :-) B

We love that you run it at home and understand fully the value of that!

I'm running nexenta at home, too - that's why I like to seconded this request. Anything that helps saving energy would be great and in "green IT" times maybe also interesting for small business enviroments since energy costs are rising rapidly.
