Compression setting

Added by Rick van der Linde about 1 year ago

I tried to add a bug/issue for following, but did not succeed (yet). Therefore I will mention it here:

Created a setup for iSCSI. Created zvol (to be mapped). These zvol do get setting compression disabled (off). Next I map these (via GUI). This seems OK except the default setting write back being enabled. Until now the compression setting is still off. When disabling the write back cache for the zvol that is mapped (for iSCSI) the setting becomes enabled again (which I did not want). Now I need to disable compression again.

Two things are (in my opinion) wrong here:

  1. When mapping the zvol for iSCSI usage the default setting for write back should be disabled (in my opinion) unless there is a good reason for leaving this setting enabled

  2. When changing the write back cahe option the compression setting (or others) should not become modified.

Could one register a issue/bug report for this? I would like to see NexentaStor improving...
