winscp as root?
Added by trey p about 1 year ago
searched here and on nexenta.org (and google) but cant seem figure this out.
problem: wanted to copy down some VM folders to migrate them onto a test machine separate from current setup. admittedly i am lacking in *nix knowledge
variables: -nexenta CE 3.0.4, vmware esxi 4.1 -have VM machine shut off so no locked files. -vmware has permissions on the actual files for disk so admin user cant pull down -dont want to change those permissions really from SSH -ftp wont allow login as root, nor do i want to enable it -winscp can connect as admin user but not as root (same user/pw combo perfectly fine with putty SSH)
just want to move these files quickly, ftp would be nice in case of break in connection (several hundred GB's). moving files via vsphere client (I dont have the schmancy vsphere)
any insight? thanks,

I have, and winscp as root just works as expected. (Ive used it to add SCSI HBA drivers to a Nexenta CE box.)
