mtu of 9000 crashes NFS
Added by James Jose about 1 year ago
Hi, I've setup two network cards with mtu 9000 (intel e1000 driver) my ESXi machines are connecting to an NFS share via this link. When the mtu is set at 9000 for the aggregated link and I start copying VM files NFS stops responding and needs to be restarted (or the NAS rebooted) for ESXi to see the datastore again. Setting the mtu to 1500 resolves the issue.
I should note that the ESXi server I am copying from does not support jumbo frames and is only running at 1500 (our main large ESXi server does support jumbo frames) jumbo frames are enabled on the switch also

I believe the values need to be the same on both the client and server.
