HP tape autoloader is not recognized by the nexenta server

Hello, I have a 3.0.5 nexenta server and I just connected a new backup device to it: HP 1/8 G2 tape autoloader. I connected it using an SAS cable to the Nexenta server. It seems that the nexenta does not recognize my tape device. This is the output of the cfgadm command I executed on the nexenta:

Does anyone know how to configure this so the tape device will be recognized by the nexenta?

I need the tape to be identified by the nexenta. It currently shows that no device is connected. Do i need to restart the nexenta server so it will rescan the scsi bus?

We don't currently have support for tape. sorry this took so long. We are looking to add a plugin in an upcoming release.

Thanks for your reply. Just to verify I understood correctly - for now, it is impossible to backup my data stored on nexenta storage to an hp tape autoloader device. When do you think this will be supported?

Hello Ofer,

just stumbled across your post. I've played with this last year. We were able to have NexentaStor 3.1 recognize a HP Ultrium robot with 2 tapedrives Do you use a LSI (based) SAS controller? Then you can check if the controller sees your tapes and changer by downloading and running the "lsiutil" This is a very handy tool to check all sorts of stuff on your LSI controllers.
