FTP User

Added by John Toshak 11 months ago

I'm a bit lost when it comes to ftp users and the directories where I can specify for them to access to. I created a specific share just for FTP purposes so that I can easily move files from my Windows client. I also checked the Ftp check mark on that specific share. Upon navigating to that folder, I saw a bunch of folders created under that share folder, which is totally fine.

Now how do I create ftp specific accounts (these accounts will never need to be used for anything else) and how do I link these accounts to a specific folder inside the FTP share folder?

Thanks in advance!

Hi John Start by creating your user for FTP and then set the home directory to the zfs that you created for ftp share.

I have noticed that there is an issue when using internet explorer, you start out in / and not in the directory that you have assigned for the user.

Note it might be easier to create the user and point out the home directory, this will then create the zfs at the same time and all you have to do is share it.

Se example If you pool is called stor1 then create a user lets say ftpuser and then point the home directory to stor1/.

Good luck

Dont you think it is ridiculous to add an ftp user this way? When you fill in the home directory, all the user directories are created in that directory.
